I decided to let the bunnies be themselves this year instead of doing costumes (they humored me enough on Halloween).

River has claimed the snowman plushie, while Simon is trying his best to snag a Christmas cookie off the coffee table.

Bunny condolences.

Our condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives yesterday at the Berlin Christmas market.  We wish the injured a speedy recovery.  We also wanted to thank the first responders, police, and those who worked in the local hospitals that helped to save the lives of the injured.  Our thoughts are with you.

I'm not sure what secrets these two are sharing, but River has Simon's full attention.

I think I'm going to re-name their new giraffe friend 'Mr. Bill' in honor of his SNL namesake.  It seems fitting with the brand of loving Simon and River are bestowing on the little guy.

Birthday bunnies!

Our little munchkins are enjoying their special birthday feast and posing with their new toy.
It's hard to believe that Simon and River will be starting bundergarten this year.  They grow up so fast!

We're on a list!

Uh, Simon...do you think Santa knows about us getting behind the TV stand?  I think if we end up on the 'Naughty List' that we can get off on a technicality because we didn't really do anything bad while we were back there.

This was just before River nose-bonked me into being "it".  It's nice to be included!

Snack attack.

It's all fun and games until...

Your snack fights back.  Simon ended up with a long strand of hay wrapped around him, which spooked him causing him to run frantically around the living room in hopes of freeing himself.  He's given up at this point and you're seeing his 'this is my life now' face.  I freed the little fella after I stopped laughing.

You're back!

River is overjoyed that her favorite human (the big human) is back from his morning run.  She immediately set to nose-bonking him, chinning his shoes, and giving his clothes a coating of bunny fluff to ensure that everybun knew whose human he was.

Simon immediately chinned the hay box as his "greeting", so I guess that means he isn't going to share.  The little guy knows that running works up an appetite!  

It's okay.

I won't let Monday get you!

Our two little bun loafs are keeping toasty warm in this cold weather with snuggles and ear hugs!

Domestic Kingdom.

Here we have two Holland lop bunnies in their natural habitat.  The male, affectionately called Simon by his caregivers, is performing the ancient bunny dance of happiness known as a binky.  These house rabbits even practice a primitive bartering system in which offerings of noogies or treats are required before they will allow their happiness to be photographed/videotaped.  Simply fascinating!

Simon can indeed hop and chew hay at the same time.  He was taking his snack on a grand tour of the living room when I snapped this.  Bunnies are strange and mysterious creatures!

Sometimes, Simon runs up and gives kisses when River least expects it (like in the middle of a nap).

Harrumph!

Something about Simon's face in this pic reminds me of a crotchety old man muttering about darned kids and how they should get off his lawn.  I think he would be a bit more polite about it, though.  Maybe mumbling, "Excuse me, little human, but could you please get off my purple towel?  It took me forever to get it just right and now you're wrinkling it and making it smell like human."

So full.

Simon is pretty sure that the secret ingredient that makes Thanksgiving pellets so good is tryptophan.  He's also pretty sure that he's going to sleep until Monday.
