Hoppy Halloween!

I'm kind of amazed this worked.  It's a mini pumpkin lit by a birthday candle.  Now, on to the real buns...

I thought this would be fitting for all River has been through this year.  Our Very Hungry Caterpillar is devouring some oats!

And Simon proves once again that he will do anything for noogies.  The little fella was well compensated in noogies and papaya bites.

A change of pace.

Simon:  I can be reckless.  Look--I'm gonna sneak up on River!

Mr. Giraffe:  I wouldn't do that if I were you.

A bun with a plan.

Simon has set his sights on becoming King of the mountain of towels!  Their downy softness will make an acceptable throne for his fluffy butt.

She does what she wants.

Not content to eat in her cage, River insisted on having a picnic in her favorite spot.  Honestly, we're just glad she's eating!

When being chased to go back in his cage, Simon's code of 'the floor is lava' is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

A nose for trouble.

I'm glad she's eating again, but the #1 question on River's mind is, "What is this and can I eat it?"  No, computer cables and their Velcro wraps are not edible.

Getting back to normal.

Curiosity rover.

Our little wandering sweet potato figured out how to nudge open doors.  A whole new world has opened up to him...or at least the downstairs bathroom has.

Simon is making sure that I keep my word that River is done with her antibiotics and ear drops.

Update:  River is drinking from her water bottle!  She hasn't managed that since June, so this is huge for her.  Huzzah!

So over it.

Just one more day of antibiotics, ear drops, and (hopefully) force-feedings!  It's hard to tell if she's feeling better given the toll the meds have taken on her appetite, but she's given us glimpses of her old self so that's a good start.

Revenge is mine!

Caught River trying to eat my shoelaces.  I suppose I should be glad that she chose that option instead of peeing in my shoe.  Then again, it could be simply because she was fresh out.

The thumpening.

The look when you realize that the scary thing you were inconsolably thumping about for the past hour was your own tummy gurgling.

Plotting revenge.

You know, the second time I peed on the little human today didn't bring quite the same feeling of accomplishment as the first.  I think I'm going to have to change things up and pee in her shoe or something.

Poor River can't seem to catch a break.  She ended up with an ear infection and snuffles, so she's entering day 8 of ear drops and banana flavored antibiotics...and more force-feeding.  One more week to go! 

Update:  12:35am River is eating alfalfa hay!!!  This is the first hay of any kind she's managed to eat since June.  Huzzah!!!

Just bunny stuff.

There's nothing quite as nice as breaking in a new towel.  Bonus:  This one's blue!

Little bouncers.

Apparently the Bunny Tunnel is a really hoppin' place to require two guards at the door!

Simon made quite a show of lining up the box and then crawling through it.  River was otherwise occupied and missed the show, so I clapped and cheered for the little fella.
