Close enough!

Wishing you all the joy and magic of the holidays!

We wanted to thank you all so very much for your kind words and condolences.  We are truly humbled to know that our Simon touched the hearts of so many and made people's lives just a little bit better.  That's a pretty cool legacy for a little bunny!

River is doing well and is slowly finding her new normal (as are we).  Mr. Giraffe isn't as good at giving kisses as Simon, but he's doing his best and that's what counts!

We'll be back with more bunny cuteness on Jan 2nd.  We hope you all have a Merry Christmas for those who celebrate it and a very happy Sunday for those who don't.  We also hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year!

A day without sunshine.

Today at 3:15pm Simon set off on an adventure where River couldn't follow.  He slipped away peacefully in my lap with River giving him all of the kisses.

We were blind-sided by this because he had been improving, but it seems that the strain was too much for his little heart to handle.  We are giving River twice the love now.  This pic is the last I have of them together.

I'm going to take a break from posting for a little bit.  I have a Christmas post that I'll put up and I'll post about River interspersed with some pics I have of both of the little munchkins going forward.  I just need a bit of time.

Definitely Slytherin.

I'm starting my world takeover with Simon's cage!

She really did just hop on into his freshly cleaned and disinfected cage, peed in his litter box, sneezed on the floor, scattered wood chips on his clean towel, and tried to eat his hay.  As I scooped her out, she gave me this look of, "Do what you must, I've already won."

Simon and River's 11th Birthday!

Simon:  According to this book, we should be getting our Hogwarts acceptance letters any time now!

River:  I hope we get sorted into the same house, but I can totally see you getting sorted into Hufflepuff while I'm probably gonna be in Slytherin.  If only I didn't want to rule the world!

This is mine now.

River:  This is my big human!

Simon:  Nuh-uh!  I saw him first.

Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you all have a great weekend!  Stay safe out there and we'll try to be back on Sunday for a special birthday post if the little munchkins are feeling up to it.

She knows what she wants.

Somebun spotted the baggie of oats on top of Simon's cage.

They lied.

When I went on the field trip to the other room, they did not give me ice cream like they said they would.  They gave me something called subcutaneous fluids, which is the opposite of ice cream!  And don't think I didn't hear them talking about the metronidazole (an antibiotic for the gut) tasting like the most awful thing ever and that I'd have to take that twice a day.  At least they added banana flavoring to the other medicine (metoclopramide--a gut motility drug), so I guess it isn't a total loss.

Simon was a very good boy at the vet's and was complimented by the vet tech, who said he looked like a little bumble bee.  Later on, he mentioned that while giving the fluids, Simon was licking his hand.  Simon made a new friend today!

A new experience!

Well, that was weird but kinda nice at the same time!  I'm really digging these warm towels too.

Simon had his first 'spa day' today and it was quite an experience!  He got a bit of food in his belly (with my assistance) followed by a light trim of his bikini line (a bit nerve-wracking for me, but necessary) and a good old fashioned soak in a bubble bath in his own private bathtub (a washcloth-lined large ziploc container with an inch of soapy water in it).  The little dude really, really needed it.

He was a very good boy and is all sparkly clean now!

Monday bun.

River says we have to stay home today.  She's making sure no work is getting done on her watch!

Rabbitude.

This was Simon's way of telling me that he didn't want my help drying him off.  At least he's eating more greens and has started eating hay again today, so that's a huge improvement.

Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you all have a great weekend!  Stay safe out there and we'll be back with more bunny cuteness on Monday.

On your marks!

River looks like she's about to do a runner on me.

Mystery solved!

I am really glad that I've been writing down what Simon's been eating and noting the amount/weighing it since he got sick with the ear infection.  Because of that, I was able to figure out that the little guy is no longer able to eat sunflower seeds (we were trying to increase his calories when he wouldn't eat anything sweet).  He had 💩💩💩 5-8 hours after munching on a few seeds on Dec 2 and Dec 6 with signs of improvement in between bouts when no seeds were eaten those days.

Thankfully, after getting all cleaned up Simon was happily munching away on some parsley while listening to sweet tunes from the 80s.  He is a big fan of Tiffany and Michael Jackson if him trying to lick the radio was any indication.

Technically correct.

What?!  I'm not digging at the rug.  You said nothing about digging at the towel.

Live and learn.

Mr. Giraffe seems scandalized by what Simon did to the towel.  This is why we put towels down while warming up buns on the heating pad.  Sometimes they get a bit too comfy. (No worries, the couch remained pristine.)

Bleh!

Simon is critiquing my culinary abilities after he had to be force-fed (tummy issues after the antibiotic ear drops).  He thought my trip to the pet store would make me forget to do it when I got home.

Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you all have a great weekend!  Stay safe out there and we'll be back with more bunny cuteness on Monday.

She's making this a thing.

River has found a new favorite napping spot.  Comfort and snacks all in one convenient location!
