This is Simon communicating. He'd look at his food dish, then the pellet container, then at me. I had to take it out for a bit since he decided that the only good use for hay was to sleep on it. Picky little eater!
If the treat container was nearby Simon would stare at that instead! But it's more likely that River and Simon would work together to chew through the treat container which is probably why the treat container is out of reach!
For the most part, he'll only do that with the pellets. River is the one who signals that she wants treats by waving her paws as though they were semi-fore flags (Simon just lets her do her thing to not distract us simple humans). ;)
Yup, that's why the treats need to be put out of reach--way too many attempts at helping themselves! :)
