Wishing you all a safe and Happy Halloween!  We'll be back with more bunny cuteness on Monday.

Ghosts of Halloween's past.

I have to admit that my husband is the one who first thought to dress up our rabbit, Penny.  He's a bit fuzzy as to the reason why (aside from it seeming to be a good idea at the time).  When I went searching for the picture, I found it aptly titled:  Do you have any idea how hard it is to pose a rabbit?  He foolishly assumed that she would co-operate and not attempt to play with and/or eat the props.  The lure of the pumpkin was just too great...it had to be tipped over right now.  What you see before you is the culmination of about an hour of enthusiastic play-time and Penny being too tuckered out to heed the siren call of the ceramic pumpkin.
Halloween 2010:
Here is a photo depicting the most patient bunny on the planet.  I can't believe she didn't try to eat the beard.  I think she's just resigned to waiting for the treats after the human stops using the flashy-thing.
Halloween 2011:

Inky's punishment for stealing Penny's Halloween candy was swift and terrible.
A bit of randomness I came up with that fits the season:
Halloween 2012:

Ha!  Give you treats?!  Nice trick.  Now, the way this works is that you give us treats.

I was all sorts of proud that this turned out after eight and a half hours of carving.  I haven't carved a pumpkin since I was 9 years old (pretty sure I got it all out of my system here).  I didn't have any proper carving tools, so I made do with an exacto-knife, a paring knife, a calligraphy nib, a spoon and some tips you use to pipe icing with (because they were sharp and metal).  I also found out the hard way that candles don't really work to light up a pumpkin if you don't do a cut-through.
Halloween 2013:

And they said that making a rabbit-themed version of
Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven couldn't be done!
Halloween 2014:

Overall, I'd have to say that Simon and River tolerated their first real costumes pretty well.  Giving them both a hay cube probably helped.

Thanks for visiting the blog and be sure to come back tomorrow for a special Halloween post!  See you then!

Well, at least he slowed down first!
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a great weekend!  We'll be back with more bunny cuteness on Monday.

Oh, sorry...

There's no room for you up here, but feel free to sit on the floor!
Wow, it's like middle school all over again only this time the couch is the cool kids' table.

Bunny calculations.

River evaluates the cost-benefit ratio of leaping over the box fan and landing in deep trouble.  Is the thrill of exploring off-limits territory and possibly getting a few good chomps of expensive wiring worth the scolding and loss of playtime?
Yes.  The answer is always yes!

Trickle-down noogienomics.

River learns you need to be at the top of the chain to get much benefit.
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have an awesome weekend!  We'll be back with more bunny cuteness on Monday.

Bunnies being silly!

Simon and River were having a hopping good time.
There's no sound, so feel free to watch at work if you're running low on bunny cuteness!

Our good little boy!

River had another bout of GI stasis due to heavy shedding.  Simon wouldn't leave her side, which is saying something because he hates walking on tile floors.
This is a true first for him to just flop on the tile.  He takes his job as River's big brother and protector very seriously.
Our loyal sentry is even keeping an eye on those sneaky mirror buns.  Meanwhile, River is munching on a piece of paper bag instead of the copious amounts of hay strategically placed around the living room.
After finally getting her to eat some real food, River realizes that timothy hay keeps her GI system flying right!

Cute little land shark.

I couldn't help getting the 'Jaws' theme song stuck in my head after watching Simon slowly circle around the box River was sitting in.
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a great weekend!  We'll be back on Monday with more bunny cuteness.

Our resident hare stylist.

Simon was inspired to give River that 'just out of the shower' look.  He spent the better part of 10 minutes carefully applying bunny hork to her fur to get the style just right.  That kind of attention to detail makes her a repeat customer!

Bun shui.

River proudly shows off her master home decorating skills by placing her food dish (with pellets) inside the oat container.  She thinks it really ties the cage together.

Simon is already planning his weekend adventure.

Her heart's in the right place.

SHHH!  BE VERY, VERY QUIET--SIMON'S TAKING A NAP!!!
Correction:  Was taking a nap.
Being deaf, River has no concept of volume control.  Simon has grudgingly accepted his sleep deprived fate.
