Birthday boy! 🎂🐇

Amos is enjoying his 1st Birthday with his new friend, Baab!

I made apple-banana-cranberry bunny cookies to celebrate and the little fella was seriously conflicted about grabbing his treat and running so no one could take it (apparently they're that good), but that would leave the rest of them with the new guy.  Glad he liked my cooking! 😅

Springing forward into a new week!

Naomi, like many of us, doesn't understand why we do Daylight Saving Time, but is a huge fan of earlier breakfast time and playtime.

It's been a long week.

Amos and Naomi are ready for a nice, relaxing weekend full of flops and snuggles!

Startle buns!

Amos was racing around and was brought up short when Naomi landed a binky right in front of him. I think both of their lives flashed before their eyes on that near-miss!

Close enough!

Amos was being extra clingy and wouldn't stop giving Naomi kisses, so I told him to go flop somewhere else and this was the spot he chose.

Amos is communicating!

Apparently, he has strong feelings about cuddle cube placement and is pointing to where he wants it to go.

Bunday morning chaos.

Naomi ran into the 3-way tunnel, then chose 'chaos' instead of going left or right and managed to flip the tunnel so the skylight is now a portal to the upside-down. Here she is inspecting her handiwork while big human laughs in the background. Never a dull moment with this little bun! 😅

Shenanigans!

Amos is totally acting like he wasn't just trying to pull the blanket off of the couch while Naomi is pondering how best to leap over the bunny-proofing to see what lies beyond.

Bleh!

We took the bunnies to the vet to get their nails trimmed and this is Naomi trying to clean the human off of her.

They were both really well behaved, which was a relief because we expected Naomi to be bitey and Amos to flail like crazy.  (Usually we'd do this ourselves, but with them not being used to having it done and Amos' nails being almost black, I didn't trust my ability to do the job well and not traumatize the little fella.)

They both got a slice of banana for their bravery and they didn't seem to blame us for the nail trim, so that's a win!

The little flying tether-ball just cracks me up!

Sleepy babies.

Amos finished his bowl of pellets and chewed the bark off of his apple stick, so nap-time was calling his name!

Not to be outdone, Naomi finished her bowl of pellets, annihilated an alfalfa cube (the dusty carnage is strewn about her cage), and has made good progress on dismantling her puzzle stick ball (she's already removed one of the orange dowels holding it together). Little munchkin is sleeping hard after her busy morning!

Brave boy!

Bravery comes in many different forms. Here, Amos is working up his courage to leave his comfort zone and walk across a slippery floor to explore the bathroom. Maybe the little fella can help inspire you to go and try something new that gets you to step out of your own comfort zone this weekend!

Micro-manager.

Okay, big human, I've inspected your work and you did a good job!  We don't have room in the budget for a raise, but feel free to go into the food room and help yourself to whatever it is that humans eat...so long as it isn't banana chips, cranberries, or apple slices.  Those are for management only.

The way is shut.

Naomi has been showing extra interest in the kitchen and stairs lately.

That morning, she was being sneaky and got past me while I was giving her breakfast and I didn't have the gate up yet.  Thankfully, she listened to me about how going up the stairs is the easy part and that she'd have to figure out how to get back down or I'd have to carry her (she hates being picked up).  Given her general clumsiness, I do not trust girlfriend on the stairs!

Ludicrous speed: GO!

Amos has the good sense to freeze in place and let Naomi run circles around him. Shortly after this pic was taken, she managed to flip the 3-way tunnel over with her in it.

No worries--she was fine, just confused why the tunnel's skylight disappeared and she was now between the couch and the coffee table!

We're helping!

Amos kept circling everyone, Naomi kept nudging big human's foot, and I just took pictures (and pet bunnies) while he was cleaning cages.  Yup, we were super helpful today! 😅

Bunnies do what they want.  Today, Naomi and Amos decided that chaos and destruction was in order and this was the only pic I could get of the dynamic duo together to commemorate the holiday.  It's definitely a mood...not quite what I was going for, but a mood nonetheless.

I love how this pic captures Naomi's baby face!  I think we sometimes forget that there's a lot of baby bun left in a lanky big girl package (Amos is actually a couple days older than she is).

Follow the leader!

This is one of Amos' favorite games, but he's also learned that you can't follow Naomi too closely when she goes under the ramp or you'll get a face full of bunny feet.  Honestly, I'm amazed that she can still fit herself under there!

Sniff!

[sigh]  Little human, Amos is being weird again!

Everyone knows the little fella likes Naomi (she likes him too), but it's hard to get him to understand that he needs to slow his roll a bit.  I end up herding him away to go do something else when he gets a bit too clingy.  We're doing our best to prevent him from discovering the hard way that Naomi's patience is not limitless!

A helpful distraction.

Amos has discovered that he can interrupt Naomi's shenanigans (like pulling down the baby gate onto them both) by giving her kisses.  He is a smart little fella who doesn't want to be smooshed!

Sometimes you just need a minute.

When you feel overwhelmed with current events, just remember that somewhere out there is a little bunny trying his hardest to balance a yellow dangle-y ball on his head.

Sometimes you just have to focus on what you can do and do that thing to the best of your ability, just like Amos.

Should I be afraid?

Amos and Naomi were playing behind me and then it got too quiet.  When I turned around, this is how I found them.  What do their bunny eyes see?  The world may never know.

Naomi is getting creative with her binkies!  This time, she's effortlessly showing her mastery of the crossed-paw binky.

Amos cracked me up when I noticed him using his ear as a fin and tail as a rudder to be able to corner better at top speed.  Puff, Spike, and Naomi are in awe of his skill.  That little fella truly is a zoomie master!

Amos:  Uh...Naomi?  Little human is staring right at us.

Naomi:  That's okay, I'm pretty sure her vision is based on movement.  So long as we stay still, she can't actually see us.

Puff got snuffed!

Naomi once again leaves a trail of chaos and destruction in her wake.  I love how Mr. Giraffe is hiding in the tunnel to hopefully avoid a similar fate.

Bunny chewing gum!

Whenever I re-fill their hay bags, Amos will always try to grab my purple glove and start chewing on it.  He'll even try to hold my arm still to try to grab a mouthful and blissfully chew away.  Little dude is fascinated by it!  Not sure if it's the color, taste, or the fact that it's the first thing he's managed to get his mouth on that he can chew but not eat.

Amos is having a case of the Mondays.

Naomi was apologetic enough to give him kisses after his trampling, so that was nice.

Charging into the weekend!

Amos would like it to be noted that he isn't the one flinging woodchips everywhere.  He's just innocently admiring the banana chip container and staying out of Naomi's way.

Service was poor and portion size leaves a LOT to be desired.  Wait staff refused to give me a re-fill on my favorite round pellets, then proceeded to insult me by telling me to finish the "big boy" pellets that I purposefully left in my dish!  I had half a mind to thump, but I was raised better.  The only tip I'm leaving is that you need to make the round pellets an endless buffet option! 

Excuse me!

Give me pellets, big human. Big human, stop cleaning and gimme pellets! Big human--look! BIG HUMAN!! PELLETS!!!  

Yes, we do feed Amos...just not as many pellets as he wants...which is ALL of them.

Amos loves the rainbow tunnel because it has lots of options for fun and being sneaky!

The bunnies react to today's presidential inauguration.

Amos is distracting himself in these interesting times by practicing bunny yoga for fitness and inner peace.  Naomi has decided to ignore the inauguration and focus on the spirit of equality that today's actual holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) is about.

Poor little Amos was trying his hardest to jump into the hay box too, but the box flaps kept getting in his way.  No worries--I gave him a handful to munch on so he could join Naomi in the bunny buffet!

This is mine now.

Naomi looks so scandalized that I've been holding out on her about the source of her alfalfa hay this entire time.  Usually, I would fill their hay bags in the kitchen for easier clean-up but didn't have the energy while still battling the flu to drag the boxes in there.  Naturally, she was reluctant to give up her self-serve bunny buffet to allow me to fill up their hay bags!

I'm proud to say that this bunny-proofing method worked for the entirety of our holiday visit!  I had gotten 3 heavy bunny playpens and hooked them together to close off the bunny restricted parts of Dad's guestroom.  It's way less stressful not having to pull bunnies out from under the bed/bunny Disneyland every time I turned around!

Just a head's-up:  Big human caught flu A while we were visiting and I caught it from him on our way home, so this week's (and maybe next week's) posts might be sporadic depending on how I'm feeling.  He's on day 11 of this with no end to the coughing/congestion/feeling blerg in sight and I'm on day 3 and have had some weird ear ringing/echo-like hearing/earache stuff along with the usual flu symptoms.

Mask up, everyone, because you do not want this and it seems to be everywhere right now!
