Somebunny's getting a time-out.

Simon, way too spun-up waiting for Superbowl Sunday, decided it would be a good idea to tackle River.
Poor little River didn't even see him coming and ended up with a face full of purple towel.  She got her revenge by binkying pretty hard in front of Simon's cage while he got to ponder exactly what he did wrong to deserve doing time in bunny jail.
Well, at least Simon had the good sense to apologize.  I cringe to think of what pay-back River would come up with if he hadn't.

Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a great weekend!  We'll be back on Sunday with a special holiday post.

Remarkably similar...

Apparently, a horse binky is called a capriolet.  I have to say, Simon looks quite majestic in this pose!
I just had to find a Lipizzaner stallion pic (not mine, so don't sue) after catching Simon like this.  His markings even look like a little saddle and I was half tempted to Photoshop the rider onto him.
My husband joked that I should start teaching Simon dressage using oats and apples as treats.

When River is super happy, she sometimes lacks spatial awareness during her binkies.  She ended up pouncing like a baby tiger onto an oblivious Simon.  Thankfully, this only resulted in a very startled Simon.

Simon forgot how to rabbit.

Uh, I don't think that looks right.  I'm no expert, but I guess that he:
1) Lost control of his rear end going as fast as he was.
2) He couldn't decide whether to run or do a binky and attempted to do both simultaneously.
3) He was attempting the world's first bunny cartwheel.
Well, if anything the little guy has mad balancing skills because he didn't face-plant into the purple towel after this derp-tastic display!

You're the best little sister ever!
I thought we should start off the week with a dose of bunny cuteness.

It's been a long week, as these spooning little mirror buns can attest.
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a nice relaxing weekend!  We'll be back on Monday.

Easy there, Pelé.

Simon was racing around the living room and pulled off the one in a million shot of kicking his toy pineapple directly into my lap as he flew past me.  If you look closely, you can see the pineapple is in mid-air in the pic.
When I found his toy in my lap, all I could think of was those soccer announcers shouting, "Goooaaal!"

Joined at the hip.

Some days Simon and River are inseparable even when getting into trouble...
While playing with their box...
And eating their pineapple toy...
Going for a stroll around the living room...
Crashing into the arm of the couch at top speed...
Learning how to share a favorite toy...
And who could forget naptime?
For all of their differences in personality, it's funny how often they mirror one another.  Just like human siblings sometimes do.

Bunny logic...

Simon will never find me in here!
The bunnies were playing an epic game of hide-and-seek when River got this brilliant idea.  I think Simon might be on to her whereabouts, though.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

River is finding that being "Queen of all She Surveys" is a tougher job than she expected it to be.
Simon didn't believe her, so she let him borrow her crown.  Simon quickly found his role as co-regent exhausting.
River came to Simon's rescue and decided that it would be best for both of them if she destroyed the crown by eating it.  Clearly, the job is great so the fault must lie with the trappings of office.

Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a great weekend!  We'll be back on Monday.

Simon goes for bonus points...

Simon combines a flop and a bunny snuggle to cover both of his New Year's resolutions in one go.  Never let it be said that he is incapable of multitasking.

The bunnies watch TV.

It looks like Simon and River have found a hare-raising adventure to watch.  It's so hard to find good bunny-themed movies these days!

The rules of flopping.

Rule #1:  Flop to your left...
Flop to your right...
And left again.
Rule #2:  Be mindful of the baseboard so you don't accidentally concuss yourself.
Rule #3:  Whenever possible, have a flopping partner to monitor your surroundings while you're otherwise occupied.

Bunny playtime drama...

But I want to play in the box too!
Yes, a truly earth-shattering problem River must deal with.  These are troubling times in the kingdom.

A rolling bunny...

Gathers a fair amount of chuckles!
I lost it when I saw his little toes all splayed out on his back foot.  I have no idea what he's trying to do with his front paws, but at least the little guy didn't get stuck on his back again.  I also noticed River in the background pretending that they're not related.
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a great weekend!  We'll be back on Monday.

Anything you can do, I can do better!

It's a battle of the buns!  First up is to see who has the best long jump.  Simon is impressive with his magnificent leap over the pinecone.
Only to be bested by River, who decided that taking a running leap over Simon would gain her extra points.  Simon is stunned that River would use him as a hurdle.  River wins this round.
Round two is a battle to decide who can look the goofiest during a free-stye binky.  River is facing stiff competition in this category, but her interesting use of a belly flop as a landing could really increase her point value here.
Oh, we have a clear winner, folks!  Simon decided to pull out all the stops and turn his binky into a bunny spin-out on the landing.  I have no idea how he pulled this one off, but we have a goofy little champion here.

Not the result he was looking for.

Simon noticed River cleaning and decided to be sneaky by attempting to nudge under her chin and get her to clean him instead...
He did get her to pause in her cleaning, which gave her time to realize...
That Simon's head was an excellent arm rest, which made her cleaning much easier!

Like night and day...

When I saw River give me this face, all I could think of was a teenager dramatically screeching, "Mom, would you please put the camera down?!  You're embarrassing me!"
Simon seems to be excitedly asking, "Did you get my good side?!"

Once again, I caught Simon looking silly.  Here he is in all of his fluffy glory in the process of rolling over.  I figured that 'cattywampus' wasn't quite the right word for a bunny in this pose, so I altered it a bit.
I never really noticed that he has tiny stripes on the underside of his tail (then again, it's a pretty rare event to get to see Simon's belly).
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you all have a great weekend!  We'll be back on Monday.

A comfy little bun.

Oh, look--a foot!  Simon made that Earth-shattering discovery during a dramatic bunny flop.

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

The first day of 2014.

Simon and River are recovering from their New Year's Eve celebration.  They also made a New Year's resolution to do more flops and bunny snuggles.  They're off to a fine start!
