Simon's secret stash.

What?!  I put my toys away!  Oh, you mean they're communal property and I have to let River have access to them?

The call of the wild.

The weather has been nice enough for us to finally open up the sliding glass door.  River was immediately drawn to it and Simon, being his usual high-strung self, decided that the best approach would be to slowly crawl towards this new development.
Huh.  Okay, I guess this isn't so bad and I don't think we're in immediate danger.  These new smells are amazing!
Simon decided to not push his luck with all of the new stuff, so he only hung around the open door for about a minute before he was off to more familiar things.  River was transfixed by the new sights and smells of spring.  She kept trying to put her paws on the screen door or wedge herself between the screen door and the glass one trying to explore this new frontier.
She even resorted to begging to go outside.  It was hard to say no to that little face, but there's no way we're letting either of them out on our balcony.  Oh, the call of the wild!

Socially awkward bunny.

This is Simon being a bit pushy with his need for River's attention.  He'll see her cleaning and immediately go over and shove his head under her face so she'll start cleaning him instead (sneaky bun).  This time, he almost knocked her over in his eagerness.
After repeatedly following her around and interrupting her cleaning, River started to get annoyed and hopped across the room.  Simon, oblivious as always, decided it would be a great idea to nose-bonk the side of her head to get her attention.
I can only liken this behavior to a small child repeatedly saying, "Mom.  Momma!  Mum!!  MOMMY!!!" to get their mother's attention (usually for no reason at all).  Just replace all of the 'mom' variants with 'River' and that's what Simon was like all day.  Sometimes the little fella is a bit needy.

I think I interrupted something...

River has her patented 'butter wouldn't melt' face and looks like she's saying, "We totally weren't plotting to take over the world or anything...promise!"  Simon, on the other hand...
He looks like a curmudgeonly old man in this pic.  I can imagine him saying, "Darn kids.  Get off my lawn!"  I would also compare it to the McKayla Maroney 'unimpressed' face:
I think it goes without saying that I didn't take this pic, so don't sue me.  The similarities are uncanny, just reversed...and different species...and no Olympic medal for Simon...and Simon isn't a girl!  Hmm.  I still think they look similar.  Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Well, I hope that gave you a chuckle.  Thanks for visiting the blog!  Here's hoping that you have a great (perhaps even impressive) weekend and we'll be back on Monday!

Things to do in the entryway.

Here's Simon in all of his derpy glory.  Judging by the bunny tongue, I suspect he has learned a valuable lesson as to why it's a bad idea to lick the corner baseboards before I've completely finished spring cleaning.
River looks like she's having a much better time than Simon if the full lop flop in front of the door is anything to go by.  I think she's settling in for a nap.

Joining in a bunny game!

Sometimes I think Simon and River just see me as something fun to climb on.  Usually, they're playing the bunny version of "King of the Mountain" (which I imagine is called "Alpha of the Lap").  The goal of which is to nudge the other off of me because for some reason both bunnies cannot occupy my lap at the same time.  I can't argue with those rules!  I play the roll of "toll collector" for this game and get paid with either a nose-bonk from River or a lick on the forehead from Simon.  It's nice to be included.

Gimme oats!

After hopping back into her cage for the evening, River was so excited for oats that she grabbed onto the dish as I was setting it into her cage.
It was clear that she wasn't going to let go of it, so I figured it was best to just hold it while she ate rather than accidentally knocking her over trying to dislodge her feet from the food dish.  River is very serious about her oats.  Here she is attempting to fit all of the oats in her mouth at once.
And then depression sets in as she realizes that the oats are almost gone.  They're just sooo good that she can't help but scarf them down instead of savoring them.  Oh, first world bunny problems!

Simon's having a rough Monday.

Poor Simon got his head stuck inside the kleenex box and had to be rescued.  We think his ears were out in a propeller-like fashion, which prevented him from extricating himself.  Then...
He nearly fell over backwards inspecting the bottom of our dining room chair.  If you look closely, he's balancing on his heels as he struggles to remain upright in this pic.
Sometimes, you just need a hug and a reminder that tomorrow will be a better day.

Bunny aerial acrobatics.

The elusive double couch binky!
Thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have as much fun this weekend as Simon and River are having in this pic.  We'll be back on Monday.

This goes over there!

Simon has chosen an interesting way to push the Coke box across the floor.  I wish I had taken a video of this--bunny back feet don't move independently very well and he was taking these little mincing bunny steps to push the box.  He was pretty determined to move the box the foot and a half to where it was "supposed" to go.
Or he's trying to get a job in a Coke commercial and hopes that cuteness and product placement will be his ticket in.

Our thoughts are with you.

We at Bunnies and Sunshine offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives today at the Boston Marathon.  We also hope that those injured are able to make a quick and full recovery.  We would like to offer our thanks to all of those who helped the injured be they civilian first responders, military personnel, police, fire and EMS workers as well as those working in the surrounding hospitals.  Our thoughts are with you.

Nothing's certain but cuteness and taxes.

Yes, even bunnies have to pay their taxes.  Some do it less fraudulently than others.  In case you were wondering what Simon decided to fill in (hold Ctrl and click + to make bigger):
I choose to believe that River stopped him before he got to the second page.

It's been a long week.

Simon and River are more than ready for the weekend.
On that note, thanks for visiting the blog and we hope you have a great weekend!  We'll be back on Monday.

Searching for Bunny Fischer.

Simon finds himself in an indefensible position.
River went right for Simon's king after knocking over a few of her captured pieces and knocking over Simon's knight and his rook.  Simon is shocked at this attack on his flank.  That's not how you're supposed to play chess!
Checkmate!  River is now mauling Simon's king while he looks on in horror.  Oh, the humanity!
River's wave of chess piece carnage continues while Simon discovers a small stash of oats placed strategically on the opposite side of the chess board.  This is why Photoshop is my friend when coming up with skits--bunnies are hard to wrangle.

I love you more!

No, I love you more!
Caught the bunnies trying to kiss each other's cheek at the same time.  Here they are jockeying for position.  They take their snuggling seriously.

Simon, why must you scare me so?

Simon is indulging his curiosity as to whether or not electricity tastes like purple.
To my credit, the instant before this was taken, he was just standing cutely on his hind legs before deciding to scare me to death by leaning to his left and checking out the electrical outlet.  I'm honestly amazed that this pic isn't just a blur of bunny moving to the side (and that the camera, which I proceeded to drop as I went to snag Simon away from danger, is still functional).
It would appear that we're not fully done bunny-proofing our apartment.

Simon makes himself comfortable.

Little sisters--for those times when the couch just isn't comfy enough.

Reverse is hard!

We're not sure what River was thinking when she tried to squeeze herself in there, but watching her throw it into reverse with Simon blocking the way was fairly entertaining.  Bunnies suck at reverse!
On that note, we hope you all have a great weekend and we'll be back on Monday!

Circus buns!

Here we find River dancing the hula on top of a box while Simon just lands the perfect binky.
For her next trick, River defies gravity (with a little help from her big brother/accountabilibunny).  Seriously, I'm not sure she's aware of how close she is from going ass-over-teakettle off the box.  Her saving grace is Simon actively holding down the box from the inside.  River isn't the most forward-thinking of bunnies.

The picture of contentment.

River looks a bit jealous that two bunnies can't fit in the oat container tunnel at the same time.  Simon looks pretty content with this situation.
This pic makes me laugh every time I see it.  For some reason, it reminds me of Winnie the Pooh stuck in Rabbit's House.
Ah, it still has that new oat smell!

More bunnies and boxes!

It's a boat, it's a cave...it's the best toy ever!  All it takes is a bit of imagination.  I think they're playing "the floor is lava" and River is making up her own rules as she goes along.

Easter Extravaganza part 2.

The good news:  They won the Easter egg hunt at the B.U.N. Easter Extravaganza.
The bad news:  The cash and prizes left a lot to be desired.
