Bunny hug!

The picture of fuzzy bunny contentment.  It's been a long week and these two are ready to relax.
On that note, we hope you have a great weekend and we'll be back on Monday!

I don't think you're doing this right.

Simon licks River and River licks her reflection.  Well, that's one way you could do it.  They kept this up for a good few minutes so now we have one bunny with a very wet ear and a mirror with a patch of bunny hork on it.

What are my eyes seeing?

Cyborg bun has solved your puzzle.
I found this little gem while looking through some older photos and thought you might get a chuckle out of it.

So near and yet so far.

An idea takes form.  River decides that she simply must get behind the entertainment center.
Okay, the box is slightly unstable...
Uh, make that very unstable.  Good thing Simon is searching for an alternate route!
Failing in finding an alternate route behind the entertainment center, Simon attempts to scale the box after River gave him a "You try it!" look and a nudge on the rump.  He noped on out of there fairly quickly once the box started moving under his paws.
River decided that if she wanted something done right, she'd have to do it herself.  Unfortunately, once her tenacity paid off for climbing onto the first box, she realized that the second box was slippery and her chin was the only thing that would ever get onto it.  I ended up rescuing her from this little balancing act.
She hasn't given up on her dream--she's still plotting to get back there one day (if the constant looks she gives the entertainment center are anything to go by).

Is it here yet?!

Simon, what are you doing?
Oh.  He wants to see if Netflix sent us Watership Down.

7 lbs of bunny in a 5 lb box.

River was relaxing in the Pepsi box when Simon decided to join her.
I think two might be a crowd judging by the bulging sides of the box.  One of these days, I have a feeling that I'm going to have to rip the box apart like using 'the jaws of life' to extricate these two.  Until then, overstuffed bunny cuteness will prevail.
Have a great weekend and we'll be back on Monday!

Meanwhile in the Fortress of Solitude...

Simon contemplates why the humans scold him for trying to eat the couch.  He also realizes that any expansion of his fortress will require chewing on the couch, which poses quite a quandary.

The best laid plans...

What we have here is a failure to communicate.
Apparently, after 3 days of contentedly using the litter box for its intended purpose in her new bunny McMansion, River suddenly decided that she didn't want to go on that side of her cage anymore and made big nasty messes where her hay and food dish were.  Understandably annoyed, this was my genius attempt at keeping River's litter box where I originally intended it to go.
No, I wasn't trying to get my bunny drunk in the hopes that she would be more amenable to my plan.  It's just that the liquor bottle (filled with water) was the only thing both heavy and tall enough that when twist-tied to the cage, she couldn't knock over or move (not for lack of trying on her part, though).  My reasoning being that if she didn't have access to the corner she wanted to make into a toilet, she'd go in her litter box.
River had other plans.
The sneaky little bun lulled me into a false sense of security by being a "good bunny" for a day, then decided to go all alpha bun on me and do what she wanted.
After a frustrating 4 day battle of wills, I had to admit defeat because she would happily stand in a lake of her own pee as if to prove a point.  She even tried to drag her litter box over to where she wanted it to go as if saying, "Hey human--do you understand me now?  How stupid can you possibly be?!"
I must admit to feeling a bit foolish after a week-long argument with a rabbit about the seemingly arbitrary placement of a litter box.  I still hold that the reason for its original placement was so that she wouldn't hang out in it all the time and stain her fur, which is just gross.  I do still chase her out of it occasionally, but she seems to have come to a truce about not sleeping in her toilet.  Baby steps.

Soon.

I'm not sure what he's plotting, but it can't be good.

Our little helpers...

Simon and River were helping us compile our shopping list for the week.
Simon was particularly enthralled by the Valentine's Day candy offerings.  It would seem that bunnies (like small children) are not immune to candy advertisements and product placement.

A Valentine for you!

I actually created the border for this Valentine a long time ago.  I'm glad I finally found a use for it!
We hope you all have a very happy Valentine's Day and a great weekend!  We'll be back on Monday.

You're a handsome devil. What's your name?

Simon?!  Me too!
I often wonder if he realizes that he's looking at himself in the mirror.  Whatever the case, he's utterly fascinated by the other bunny he sees.

Tigerbun, tigerbun, burning bright...

Stalks the living rooms of the night.
Well, River beheld his fluffy symmetry and turned Simon's sneaking up on her into a game of tag.
Simon keeps forgetting that with River being deaf, she pays way more attention to her surroundings than the average bunny.  This makes sneaking up on her nigh on impossible unless she's sleeping.

You can't hide from Monday morning.

I woke up to find that River had camouflaged herself in a ghillie suit of her own making.  Sadly, it didn't work as well as she would have hoped.  Good try, though!

Two bunny tongues for the price of one!

I guess bunnies make funny faces in mirrors too.
Simon wasn't even trying to lick the glass.  He just was sitting there and stuck his tongue out at himself (or the bunny he thinks is trapped in the mirror--almost like he's saying, "This is my girl, not yours!").  River has this "Boys are so immature!" look, which as close to an eye roll as a bunny can get.
In any case, I laughed way too hard when I saw this and thought you guys might get a chuckle out of it too.  Have a great weekend and we'll be back on Monday!

Movin' on up!

We got a second extra large cage about a week ago so Simon and River could be happy little neighbors!
We decided that with River being deaf and with both of their personalities demanding them to be alpha bun, it would be safer for everyone involved if these two were upgraded to their own McMansions instead of their efficiency apartments.  We aren't going to try to have them live in the same enclosure again.  For details on why we came to that decision, you can check out my other posts on their bonding exploits (if you haven't already) in:   A cage too far and Bunny bonding take #2...let's just be neighbors.
I think I'll turn the bottoms of their old cages into planters for mint and parsley to keep them well supplied.
The bunnies have created a new game...
It looks to be a combination of tag, barrel racing and hide-and-go-seek that involves much hopping into and out of each others' cage and scattering as much litter as possible from their litter boxes.  I can only assume that the litter boxes are "safe" for this little game.
Taking a break from their game.  Simon decides it's time for a snack while River thinks it's time for Simon to have a bath.  They are awesome at multi-tasking!
After a full day of playing and exploring, it's nap time!
Admittedly, some work needs to be done on their litter box training, but I'm sure they were both so excited that they just couldn't contain themselves (or they made a mess during their game).
Yup, we think Simon and River are pretty happy with their new digs.

Mine!

River has claimed our stereo for herself.
She just jumped up, turned around and sat there looking at us like this.  Getting her down from something that slippery was fun too.
After I got her down, she kept looking at the other shelves of the entertainment center as if plotting her next adventure.  They don't make enough baby gates for this.

Bleh.

Feeling a bit under the weather today.  I'll be back on Tuesday with more Simon and River bunny cuteness.  I present our old bunny Penny looking like how I feel.
