Deck the halls!

River:  Oooh--pretty!
Simon:  You put treats on the tree?!  [sigh] Why must you torment me so?

Look at River's mouth! She's ready to eat everything! (tree included) Simon must not give in to Temptation.

Dear Simon Bun and River Bun,

It is that time of the year again! So is there anything special you two want for being very very very good buns this year? Yes even you Simon! Even after you scared us all with your belly trouble!!!

In just a bit over seven days I will once again be paying you two a visit! You know the drill right? For this year could we change it up a bit? Instead of a salty sandwich could you two please leave out a Lasagna sandwich, Potato Chips, and a tall frosted glass of Root Beer? One of Helpful Elf's uncles was describing it to me and it sounded delish! That reminds me, I should see how he is doing after the Angioplasty...I'm sure the two have nothing to do with each other.

I have succeeded in convincing Mrs. Claus to go someplace less humid this year. Instead of 120 Fahrenheit in the shade we are going someplace where it is only 105 Fahrenheit in the shade (D'oH!). When I asked her where this place is located she said "it's a surprise." So I wanted to say there may not be any Christmas next year since my wife is apparently intent on mummifying me. She keeps saying she wants me to live a long life...I'm over 1000 years old! When I was born my first toy was lava! I'm so old I'm starting to run out of numbers! Why the Elves were whispering (I overheard them) that they were going to take a collection and get me a chair lift so I can climb aboard the sleigh a lot easier.

Anyway, I may send Helpful Elf in my place like the last time and I'll just go visit my good friend, buddy, and intrepid fishing partner Emperor Penguin Tattlebaum in the South Pole.

Be good buns, give your hoomins extra kisses, and (especially Simon) EAT YOUR HAY!

Love,

Santa

Hi Mónica!

Her little face made me lol. She was trying to nibble on the tree as it slowly rotated past her! They both definitely need adult supervision around it, but I'm amazed how quickly Simon accepted its presence (him being our high-strung little munchkin). I think he's also considering how to get at the garland, but is still doing his best to stay on Santa's nice list, so the garland stays put for now! :)

Hi Santa!

If you could help Simon get elected president, that would be great! All we ask is that it's done legally--maybe a grass-roots movement or you could hand out fliers or something. I'll be First Bun, so you won't have to get me anything!

We will make sure the little human fills your Christmas snack order to the letter. Be warned that she no longer has any concept of what an acceptable amount of garlic or onions is...I mean, no amount is acceptable to bunnies (being poison and all), but we have to think that even you humans have limits! Hmm, we hear that garlic is supposed to be good for the circulatory system, so maybe you'll just break even and not have to worry about an angioplasty.

Hey, progress is progress where your vacation temperatures are concerned. I'd still suggest having Helpful Elf stand in for you, though so you can say 'hi' to Emperor Penguin Tattlebaum for us. Perhaps he can give Simon tips on when he's president.

Just remember that age is only a number and the only way you really get old is when you stop seeking out learning new things or trying to have new experiences. We loved playing the floor is lava when we were little buns...oh, who am I kidding--we still love playing it! In fact, I'm going to start a game of it right now...

Love,

River M. Bun (future First Bun)
and
Simon J. Bun (future President...with your help)
