Making progress!

Amos is making sure that I see him munching on pellets so I know that he does not want to be force-fed ever again.  I think we're both still traumatized by his rapid transformation into a fluffy tornado of teeth and claws.  Thankfully, he had the good grace to take his bite-y wrath out on the towel.  Alas, my arms are testament to the sharpness of his newly vet-clipped nails.

Naomi is munching on her celery and giving me the side-eye.  She still hasn't forgiven me for baiting her into my lap with a papaya treat and switching to giving her pain meds instead.  (She got the papaya bite afterwards, I'm not a complete monster!)  Granted, she did nip me in a place that totally violates the girl code along with on my arm and fingers during her day and a half of force-feedings every 2 hours, so that should be more than enough payback.  Girlfriend holds a grudge!

They're both recovering well and don't need pain meds anymore.  They're eating more each day and have been hitting their greens and pellets pretty hard.  I'm going to give them each some yard time tomorrow so they can get some exercise now that they're off the pain meds.  I'll keep a close eye on them so they don't run amok, but being able to feel pain if they overdo it should help them go easy with the playtime for now.

I'm so happy they are eating on their own now! But I'm totally shocked they turned into such wild little beasts! Sweet gentle Amos went from zero to one hundred in the scale of rage! Are your scratch marks healing well?
And Naomi... girls have to stand for each other, what you did was a nono! She must be feeling extremely angry and confused about everything.
In a couple of days, once they recover a sense of normalcy, they will forget about everything.

I'm so happy that they are starting to eat well again! Though I'm totally shocked with how quickly they turned into little wild beasts! I didn't see it coming from sweet gentle Amos, that much anger in a tiny little body! Are your scratch marks healing well?
And Naomi... girls have to stand for each other, what you did was a big nono! Poor girly must be so scared and confused... Maybe in a couple of days once they have recovered some sense of normalcy they will forget about this nasty episode.

I'm glad that Amos and Naomi are recovering nicely and that you survived the fury of the forced-fed bunnies!

I hope that Naomi finds it in her heart to forgive you since you were only trying to feed her meds but I'm guessing she felt betrayed when you offered papaya bites and switched it for pain meds even though you did give her the bite in the end. I think maybe offering her lots of papaya bites and letting her see that she wont get baited and switched will help her forgive you!

Hi Mónica!
Me too--don't know how things were going to go if we had to keep that up for much longer! I think the raging bunny hormones didn't help either of them with their responses to the stress of being picked up multiple times a day and getting the meds/food.
Thankfully, cleaning the scratches quickly and getting some healing lotion to put on them helped them be less visible/scar less. My skin is so pale that everything shows on it, so it'll be a while before they completely fade away. Ah well, could be worse!
Naomi has been a lot better behaved today and when she tries to get nippy because I'm cleaning her cage, I re-direct her attention by giving her a quick noogie (gets my hand away from her mouth and the pets put her in a better mood).

Hi Tarosagi!
Oh, you and me both!
I've been giving them both a papaya bite with breakfast to help win them over and it seems to be working. ;) They've been getting lots of attention and noogies so they know that I'm not always going to be grabbing them out of their cages and if I ever do, it's because I absolutely have to. I'm sure constantly offering greens that they've hidden from themselves and rearranging their cages to move their food over to them and make it easier to eat has also helped in gaining their trust back.
They each had playtime for the first time since their surgeries today and they were super happy about that even if it was for a short time. I didn't want them to overdo it. Amos was binkying up a storm and Naomi was trying to climb up all the things! XD
