What a smart girl XD maybe she thought she could fool the humans into believing she hadn't been fed yet! I imagine her dropping evrything in the middle of playtime with Simon just to go back to her cage and do that lol.
Oh, she's definitely trying to be sneaky with the treats! XD
Yup! I think they realize that they can always have playtime, but treats are rare and any opportunity to get them must be seized. Usually, I never left the cage doors open while they had playtime because them hopping back into their cage at the end of playtime meant that they'd get a treat and they'd do just what River is doing in the pic (and not get exercise aside from repeatedly hopping in and out of their cages in hopes of treats). I had to start leaving the cage door(s) open within the past year due to a few potty accidents as they've gotten older. They can't quite hold it in for as long now, so we had to change things up a bit. :)

With a sweet smile like that, she knows she'll get her treats! Have Simon and River always preferred treats to play time?
